Call for participation in Symbian Student Essay Contest 2009

This year, Symbian commenced sponsorship of an annual research essay competition for university students on Symbian-related and wider mobile technology topics. This year's focus: "The next wave of smartphone innovation - issues and opportunities with smartphone technologies". Essays submitted should address one or more of the questions listed here. Up to ten essays will each be awarded a top prize of £1000. A special commendation will be awarded to those essays deemed of a high quality but which are not among the winning entries.

Update: on behalf of Lawrence Simpson, Head of University Research Relations (Symbian) and Sergey Balandin, General Chair of FRUCT program we sincerely congratulate Kirill Alexandrov, one of the three prize winners and Alexandra Reyss, author of one of three entries commended with an Honourable Mention.

Fifth FRUCT seminar

We are glad to announce that the fifth FRUCT seminar will take place in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, on April 29-30, on the premises of Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation.

Within the framework of the seminar a MAEMO hands-on training will be organized on April 27-28. The training will take the whole day on April 27 and half of the day on April 28, when it will be followed by a special FRUCT session with lectures and presentations about Maemo.
