The growing interest in the development of new and advanced technologies and devices for the treatment of diabetes has given rise to the number of medical journals relating to this topic. This conference aims to build on previous annual meetings by presenting the latest technological advances in the treatment of diabetes and related conditions.

Henri Weijo's M.Sc. (Econ.), doctoral dissertation in Marketing Understanding Consumer Value and Consumption Community Evolution will be examined at the Aalto University School of Business on Friday 7 of February, 2014 from 12 o'clock onwards (Chydenia building, Stora Enso Hall, 3rd floor, Runeberginkatu 22-24).
Dr Hope Jensen Schau, Associate Professor in Marketing, University of Arizona will act as the opponent and Professor John W. Schouten as custos.
M.Sc. Nino Samadashvili will defend the dissertation "Nanoscale Friction of Ice" on 6 February 2014 in lecture hall F239a, Otakaari 3, Espoo. In the dissertation, molecular dynamics simulations were used to study frictional behavior of an ice-ice system at the nanoscale. The work provides useful insight into the field of nanoscale ice friction an can be used as a basis for future development of the field.

M.Sc. Ajay K. Mahalka will defend the dissertation "Control of Protein Oligomerization and De-oligomerization on Lipid Membranes" on 24 January 2014 in lecture hall E, Otakaari 1, Espoo. Dissertation explored the role of membranes associated protein oligomerization in microbial killing, neurological disorder, and in control of enzyme activity utilizing spectroscopy methods.
