18.11.2013 00:00–22.11.2013 00:00 Other event WSOY-talo, Porvoo (Mannerheiminkatu 20) The University of Helsinki and the PROSECCO Network for Promoting the Scientific Exploration of Computational Creativity will organize an international autumn school on computational creativity. We cordially invite PhD and MSc students and interested researchers to participate in the school.
19.11.2013 13:15–14:00 Guest lecture B222, Exactum Abstract The talk deals with the computation of repetitions occurring in a string. It first shows an optimal O(n log n)-time solution for computing factors having an exponent at least 2 in a string on an infinite alphabet.

28.11.2013 13:15–14:00 HIIT seminar Exactum, CK111 Title Min-Sum 2-Paths Problems Abstract An orientation of an undirected graph $G$ is a directed graph obtained by replacing each edge $\{u,v\}$ of $G$ by exactly one of the arcs $(u,v)$ or $(v,u)$. In the min-sum $2$-paths orientation problem, the input is an undirected graph $G$ and two ordered pairs $(s_1,t_1)$, $(s_2,t_2)$. The goal is to find an orientation of $G$ that minimizes the sum of the distances from $s_1$ to $t_1$ and $s_2$ to $t_2$.
29.11.2013 10:15–11:00 HIIT seminar Exactum, B119 Title Normalized Random Measures and Extensions
